My name is Mrs. Sayles and I will be your 2nd grade teacher this year. I grew up by Oakland, Mn and graduated from Austin High School in 2001. I attended Wartburg College and graduated in 2005. I am a new teacher here at Lyle Public Schools, but not new to teaching. I started my career as an EA in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. We moved up north and I subbed for a year and half in the Grand Rapids and Hibbing area. This will be my 9th year teaching in the classroom. In those nine years I have taught a little bit of everything. My first year teaching my own classroom was in a high school Math class at Bugonaygeshig Indian Tribal School on the Leech Lake Indian Reservation. The next 3 years I taught 5th grade and then two years teaching 1st grade at Bugonaygeshig. The last two years I have been teaching in Owatonna, one year teaching reading interventions and the second year teaching 6thgraders, Science and Language Arts. With that said, I am so excited to teach 2nd grade here in Lyle. I know my passion is teaching primary age students to learn how to read, write, and do math. I can tell I am going to love teaching here because the staff and the students are so caring and helpful!
When I am not teaching, I am spending time with my family. I am married to Phillip Sayles and we have two boys. Jasper is 6 and going into 1st grade. Carson is 4 and is in preschool. We enjoy spending time on the farm, 4 wheeling through the woods, and watching movies together. My husband and I are both from the area originally and we fortunate that we are able to spend time with our extended family too, now that we moved back home after living in Bemidji, MN.
I am so thrilled to get the year started this year with your second graders. I am here to help your students learn and grow into lifelong learners and caring citizens. I am here for you and your child. If there is anything that you need please feel free to call, email, or stop into the classroom!
