Brian Hagan Social Studies Distance Learning
Hello all, This letter is to inform you about my plans for how the distance learning will occur in my social studies classes. The format that I will be using to get information, assignments, tests & quizzes will be Schoology. Most of you grades 9-12 already have a Schoology account with me and are familiar with how to use it. For those of you who don’t have an account with me you will need to create one as soon as possible. The codes for the classes are listed on the bottom of this letter. None of the 7th graders have an account with me so all of you will need to add my class to the classes you already have. I expect students to be checking the Schoology page everyday. I will be posting a question each day, that you will need to respond to, to see that you are at least logging into Schoology each day.
Here is how I am planning on using Schoology. Please keep in mind this is obviously new to all of us and these guidelines are not set in stone.
Information: I will post all information you may need for your class on Schoology. I will probably post in the discussion part so if anyone has a question about anything you can ask it in that format. All notes/PowerPoint’s will continue to be posted as well. There is a part of Schoology that does allow me to e-mail certain students, which I will also use when needed. Note that within Schoology you can also e-mail any questions that you might have. I do plan on having some type of “Office Hours” when I will be readily available to provide any assistance that is needed. To start those hours will be 9-11 am and 3-5 pm. You can also still use my school e-mail to contact me if needed as well. Also please feel free to call me if that is easier for you.
Assignments: These will continue to be posted in Schoology as well. With this you can submit all assignments to me through Schoology.
Test/Quizzes: All test and quizzes will be done through Schoology as well. Either with the test and quiz generator or in a posting.
