Welcome to Lyle Public School. The 2022-2023 school year will be my 6th year as an administrator in Lyle and my 3rd as the Lyle District Superintendent, High School Principal, and Transportation Director. I truly feel blessed to lead this district and provide the greatest education and learning environment for our students.
I grew up on a dairy farm outside of Freeport, MN, a small town just west of St. Cloud. Following graduation from Melrose High School in 1996 and after Basic Training and Airborne School, I was assigned to the Old Guard at Fort Myer, Virginia, just across the Potomac River from Washington D.C. There, I conducted hundreds of funerals at Arlington National Cemetery and other local cemeteries, missions at the Pentagon and the White House, as well as parades, dignitary arrivals, and many other ceremonial missions in the DC area. My greatest honor was serving as a sentinel at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. I was awarded the Tomb Guard Identification Badge, being only the 459th person to be awarded this badge, which as of today, has only been awarded to about 750 people since 1958. Check out our website: https://tombguard.org/ Following active duty, I attend St. Cloud State University to study Elementary Education while serving in the MN National Guard. I have taught at Kaleidoscope Charter School in Otsego and STRIDE Academy in St. Cloud. I have also served as a principal at Rothsay, Fairmont, and at STRIDE. I am starting my 18th year in education. My hobbies include sports, woodworking, gardening, and spending time with my wife and three children. I look forward to leading our district. Lyle is a fantastic school district with a great future. Our staff is devoted to providing students with the best educational environment possible. If you ever need to get ahold of me, please email me at jgoebel@lyle.k12.mn.us.
